These terms cover your use of the Cadence app and this website. By using Cadence you agree to them. If you don’t, please don’t use the app.
1. What Cadence is
Cadence is a Bible reading plan app. It builds reading schedules, tracks what you have read, lets you read passages in the app, and lets you follow a plan alongside other people in a group.
Cadence is a scheduling and reading tool. It is not a religious authority, and nothing it generates is theological advice or endorsement.
2. Your account
You need an account to use Cadence. You sign in with your email address; we email you a sign-in link rather than using a password.
You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can request a sign-in link. Tell us at support@cadencebible.app if you think someone else has got into your account.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Cadence.
3. Your plans and your content
Your reading plans, your progress and anything you post remain yours. We do not claim ownership of them.
You give us the permission we need to store and display your content in order to run the service — for example, showing your messages to other members of a group you have joined, and showing your completion status to that group if you have turned progress sharing on.
4. Groups and conduct
Group discussion is between real people. When posting in a group, you agree not to:
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone;
- post hateful content, or content attacking people for who they are;
- post sexual content, graphic violence, or anything unlawful;
- spam the group, advertise, or promote scams;
- impersonate someone else, including through your display name;
- post anything you do not have the right to post.
You can delete your own messages. A group’s creator can remove members from their group and delete the group entirely.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules. Cadence is not actively moderated in real time, and we do not review messages before they are posted.
5. AI-generated plans
Cadence can generate a reading plan from a description you type. This uses a third-party AI model, and like all such models it can get things wrong — a plan may be uneven, may misjudge a book’s length, or may not be quite what you asked for.
Always check a generated plan before you rely on it. You can edit any day of any plan, or delete the plan and start again. We do not guarantee that a generated plan will be accurate, complete or suitable for any particular purpose.
The description you type is sent to our AI provider to generate the plan; see the Privacy Policy for detail. Don’t put anything confidential in it.
6. Acceptable use of the service
Don’t attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to Cadence or its servers, don’t use it to build a competing dataset by scraping, and don’t use it for anything unlawful. We rate-limit certain features (such as AI plan generation and passage loading) to keep the service usable for everyone.
7. Scripture text
Cadence displays Bible text from third parties under their own terms.
The English Standard Version (ESV) is supplied through Crossway’s ESV API and remains subject to Crossway’s copyright and permissions. The Christian Standard Bible (CSB) is supplied through API.Bible and remains subject to its publisher’s copyright. The World English Bible (WEB), the American Standard Version (1901) and the King James Version are in the public domain.
Each translation’s attribution is shown at the end of every passage in the app. Scripture text is provided for personal reading within Cadence; it is not licensed to you for redistribution.
8. Availability
We try to keep Cadence running, but we don’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. Some features depend on third-party services (authentication, the AI provider, the Bible text providers) and will not work when those are unavailable.
Cadence requires an internet connection to load passages and sync your progress.
9. Reminders are not guaranteed
The daily reminder is a convenience, not a guarantee. Notifications can be delayed or suppressed by your device, your operating system’s settings, or battery-saving behaviour. Don’t rely on Cadence for anything time-critical.
10. Price
Cadence is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features in future, we will make the terms clear before you are charged, and existing free functionality will not be taken away without notice.
11. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account. Deletion is permanent and removes your plans, progress, group memberships and messages, and deletes any groups you created; see the Privacy Policy for the full list.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms.
12. Disclaimers and liability
Cadence is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or goodwill arising from your use of Cadence.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — to be completed], and the courts of [JURISDICTION — to be completed] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that you may also bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence where local law gives you that right.

14. Apple App Store
If you obtained Cadence from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these terms are between you and us, not Apple; that Apple has no obligation to provide support for Cadence; and that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The “last updated” date at the top of this page will change, and we will flag material changes in the app. Continuing to use Cadence after a change means you accept the updated terms.
